3 Destinations I’m Excited About This Month
Lugano, Switzerland
This picturesque city located in the South of Switzerland on the shores of Lake Lugano is home to a unique blend of Swiss-Italian culture, and is the largest Italian speaking city in the country. This lakeside town, with its beautiful parks, tree lined promenades, and charming old-town streets, is surrounded by breathtaking views of the Alps, and makes an excellent alternative to Italy’s glitzy Lake Como. I can easily picture myself on a boat cruise on the glistening waters with a spritz in hand, or wandering the narrow streets stopping in at quaint restaurants and cafes for a post dip aperitivo.
Corsica, France
A friend who travelled to Corsica last year came back with absolutely raving reviews, and it’s been at the top of my list ever since. Corsica, an island off of the coast of France, is home to rugged mountains, stunning coastlines and charming villages with some of the most exceptional seafood in the country. A mix of cultural, city experiences (in this case, ancient citadels and scenic port towns) and primo beach spots (white sands, turquoise waters) is in my mind the holy grail of a Euro Summer destination, and Corsica has it all.
Nikko, Japan
After my trip to Japan last Winter I have been absolutely dying to go back. Last time I visited Tokyo, Kyoto, and the Yamagata prefecture for some unique foodie experiences. Next time, I want to experience the lush countryside of Nikko. Only two hours by train from Tokyo, Nikko couldn’t be more different. With its ancient shrines, lush gardens, and breathtaking waterfalls, Nikko has a unique charm that can’t be matched in the larger cities of Japan. For a totally luxurious stay, I have my eye on Kinugawa Kisui, a beautiful ryokan property complete with onsen and high end Japanese fare.
